Creating the Companion

To create the companion I asked my team members what exactly they were looking for in the companion and created a few different sketches to choose from moving forward from there.

Here are my sketches:

The original idea was to have a large companion that the main character could ride but we eventually decided that the companion would be better if it were small so the last sketch of the bird is what we went with.

However after a WIP meeting we decided to scrap the bird and go with something completely different as the bird wasn't deemed very original and was a boring companion.

We then talked about what the companion could be and came up with a wisp inspired but the ones seen in the film Brave.

With that in mind I went off to create my own wisp and came up with this:

The design was simple enough as our plan was for the companion have particle effects and smoke effects coming out of it which would obscure most of its form.
